Default Can not transfer large files from client (laptop) to internal server

Hello,

I am trying to resolve the following issue with our users that have VPN1 (R60) installed:

They cannot transfer large files (100mb+ - 2GB) from their laptop back to a server. After 10 - 20 minutes they get an error message "path too deep" or "the specified network name is no longer avaliable".

I have tried the following with out success:
·The client-side router has an MTU setting lower than required. Adjust the MTU size on the client, or more typically on the client-side router.
·Disable "Microsoft file and print sharing" in SmartDefense.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Al

Do you copying such errors while transferring single or multiple large files?

It is multiple files in a single folder (xls, cvs). This used to work on our old VPN client (Enterasys Aurorean) with no issue.

Are you sure that you problem is VPN and FW related, but not just "path too deep" problem? The Windows 2000 operating system limits paths to a maximum of 260 characters total.

Not 100 % sure, but it did work on our old VPN client. I am starting to lean toward that path.

I'm having the same problem, but mine is large file transfers acrross the WAN. Single files Gigabit or larger, or a large batch of smaller files via a Windows copy.

I've looked at the TCP Session Timeout settings on one of the firewalls, and we have it set to 24 hours, but the site that the files are coming from have a 60 second timeout.

I believe this to be the problem, but have to wait on them to change the setting. You might try to increase it from the default.
