failed to install xxxx control key: bad signature



(This is relevant to FireWall-1 4.1 and earlier)

When setting up remote management between a firewall and management module you might see the following error message:

fwd: failed to install xxxx control key: bad signature

The password entered via the putkey command on the pfm does not match the password used on the control station. These passwords need to be the same in order for the authentication to be set up correctly. Re-perform the putkeys, making sure that the same password is used on the management console and the firewall module. If your "putkey password" is more than eight characters, you may also see this error message. Try using a password of eight characters or less.
