How to Convert R65 to R65 Messaging suite

We are currently running SPLAT PRO with NGX R65-HFA_30 Hotfix 630.We want to upgrade it to R65 with messaging suit.
So Guide us how to do it.does it need extra licences if so then what are the licences it require to convert R65 to R65 messaging suit.

HFA_30 includes messaging security. Talk to your reseller if you need to upgrade your subscriptions to include messaging security.

Are you sure about this?
My colleagues are saying that we would need to upgrade to HFA 25 in order to get the messaging security stuff, then get appropriate licenses.

I do know that some of the UTM's come with messaging security functionality already built in at higher HFA's. But, from their research it would appear that if we upgraded directly to HFA 30, and it was decided to go with messaging security, then we would need to uninstall 30, install 25, then re-upgrade to 30.

Can one of the Check Point pro's clarify this?

The UTM-1 boxes ship with messaging security already on them.

Thanks for the feedback.But the boxed that are shiped comes with R62.So how to upgrade it to R65 M/S should i upgrade it to R65 then to R65 M/S or directly do a fresh installation of R65 M/S from iso files.

It's a bit old for me to reply, but I'd do a complete reinstall from the R65w/MS ISO.

CORRECTION: It is *not* necessary to perform a fresh installation of R65 with Messaging Security (aka HFA25) and then apply HFA30 on top of that in order to get MS.

If you already have R65_HFA30 running without MS, and you later decide you want to add the MS functionality, all you need is the MS plug-in ISO. The download is here:

It's valid for both management and gateways.

NB: You need a valid software subscription in order to log in.

This definitely works, I tested it just before posting. Here's my test plan.

1. Install SmartCenter via the R65 media kit(Take 246) on SecurePlatform.

fwm ver output: This is Check Point SmartCenter Server NGX (R65) - Build 083

2. Install HFA30 on top of R65, reboot.

fwm ver output: This is Check Point SmartCenter Server NGX (R65) HFA_30, Hotfix 630 - Build 020

3. Install Messaging Security plug-in named above and reboot.

fwm ver output: This is Check Point SmartCenter Server NGX (R65) HFA_30, Hotfix 630 - Build 020
Installed Plug-ins: NGX R65 with Messaging Security

4. Log in with SmartDashboard, it asks to upgrade for plug-in. Voila! Now you can configure MS to your heart's content.
