Urgent: NG AI R55 to NGx R65 licensing assistance

Hi All,

I have a CMA in NG with AI R55 with HFA_17 managing about 23
SPLAT Enforcement Modules R55 with HFA_17, of which I have 8 pair
of clusterXL Active/Active Firewalls and 7 single firewalls.

I will upgrade the CMA to NGx R65 with HFA_02 but the firewalls will
stay at NG with AI R55 for now. I have the following questions:

1- I know I will have to upgrade the CMA license to NGx R65.

2- Do I also have to upgrade the Enforcement Modules to NGx R65 as well?
Or the Enforcement Modules license can stay at R55 license?

Can someone explain this? Thanks.

FP3 and up is manageable from R65

Leave the gateway licenses as NG - the Modules won't know how to interpret an NGX license.

Hi Chillyjim,

If I understand you correctly, only the CMA needs to have NGx R65 license.
The enforcement modules CAN stay at R55 license. Therefore, I do not need
to go to usercenter and upgrade the enforcement module license to NGx
R65. That's including ClusterXL license Active/Active

Yes that is correct.

Note that upgrading all the licenses will (at least should) not delete the old licenses from the SmartUpdate repository.
