Default EVAL License NGX

Hello,,

I'm new to the Check Points and I find the licensing to be confusing.

There seems to be confusion out there in terms of installing NGX and being able to use it for 15 days.....

Not sure if this was done differently with previous versions, but with NGX, In order to use it I had to register on-line and get an Eval License that is good for 30 days. It expired today and I found out the hard way, This cannot be renewed !!!!!

Expired means I could not even login. I ran cpclean and did a reinstall thinking I could get the 15 day license everyone seems to talk about on this forum. No good....

If I am going about this the wrong way, please let me know

thanks

There is a 15-day eval license as soon as you install it. It gets activated the day you first establish SIC. You don't have to do anything to get that license.

If you got a CD package, there is a code on a label in the box that you can register at usercenter.checkpoint.com to get a longer eval license. i don't remember if it's another 15 days or 30 days.

Thanks for your reply.

Is this for Windows or all products ? Would it cover the Nokia as well ?

I do see the code on the CD pack you are referring to, but missed the connection to on-line registration.

All of the Check Point software in terms of gateway and smartcenter comes with a 15 day trial license. This includes for the Nokia platform, along with SPLAT/SPLAT Pro. It is activated when you SIC your gateway to the smartcenter.

If you have had a 30 day eval license on the box then you would need to uninstall and then re-install the software onto the box, as otherwise it detects is over 15 days and won't activate. Doiing a cpclean isn't enough.

You can login to SMARTUpdate if the license has expired to attach a new license, but you won't get into the Dashboard.

The CD Key is a standard 30 day eval for all Check Point products the same as if requested one in User Center.
