Default SecureClient Licensing

Hi all,

The set-up that I inherited is reasonably simple, a single SmartCentre sitting behind one of the firewalls, and then about 7 other firewalls around the world. Only three of them have been configured to be SecureClient connection points.

I want to add a fourth but I’m not sure how the licensing works. I currently have 4 individual licenses for SecureClient attached to the SmartCentre.

They are:
2 x CPVP-VSC-100-NGX
2 x CPVP-VSC-25-NGX

Can I please ask if this is just a sheer numbers game (make sure you have enough in total) or if you actually have to have a separate license to associate with a firewall. (i.e 1 firewall = 1 x CPVP-VSC-xxx-NGX meaning I actually have a spare license)

Cheers

If i look into SmartUpdate the license is attached to the SmartCenter (central license) so i think there should be no issues.

As of NGX at least, the SC license is assigned to the SmartCenter and not the gateways, so the user pool is available to all gateways.

I think this was the case with R54/55 but I don't rember for sure.

Thanks very much for that. I did suspect as much. I'll proceed under this premise and will update this thread if I find anything to the contrary.

Cheers!
