Hi all, I've been going through the installation process of a IP390 flashbased and its Windows SmartCenter. Since I'm quite newbie in checkpoint licensing (I've been using it for 5 years though) I thingkI didn't do right. I've been testing and since I didn't know that the number of IP changes are limited I've only one shot left... Anyway, what I would like to know is: - Which option should I choose when I'm activating the license in the UserCenter, "local" or "central" - Which IP address(es) should I use? - How do I license both, my gateway and my SmartCenter. I do have now a .lic file licensed with "central" and my smartcenter IP, I can attach it to the gateway BUT if do so with the smartcenter I can't log in, so I've now the smartcenter in trial. I can't download policys to the gateway neither. Ok, thank you in advance for your help!!

use central. Local is the old and non-recommended way nowdays. You use ip# of the smartcenter server. You download the license you created (central license, licensed to ur smartcenter ip). Then use smartupdate (license management part is free to use). Import the new license you created/downloaded into the smartupdates repository (you can find it in smartupdate menu). Attach the new licenses to the gateway in the same gui. sidenote: If u reach ur limit on changing ip's and get blocked on usercenter, lock can easily be removed by dropping a mail to checkpoint.

Hi, thank you for the answer. I finally managed to get the hole ting running. I must say that I needed to download a "cp.macro" file (I'm installing NGX R61) in order to have the SmartCenter licensed. I already opened a case in the usercenter asking if it is possible to reset the changes counter because the IP that it's licensed in the usercenter difers from the one I'm using and I only have one change left. Once again thank you.
