Default Backup Management Server Licensing

Happy New Year ppl,

We are running a cluster of Nokia IP380s running NGX R60 managed in a distributed environment. The license for the Smart Centre is bound to a public IP address of the smart centre server running NGX R60. We have installed a backup managment server (with the eval license) to be used as a cold standby (hence do not want to purchase the extra license for this) in case the primary goes down. We have configured scheduled backups on the primary (live) management server to an scp server daily.

If I configure the backup mngmnt server to the same public IP address and just plug this into the network if my primary goes down and restore the configuration from scp server, will this be enough

Also, what do I need to do to establish SIC with the enforcement modules after putting the secondary smart centre live in production. Do I have to clear arp cache on the enforcement modules and so on ?

Please advise.

Thanks
Usman

Possibly. It depends if it's directly connected to those devices or not.

This is not a Check Point question, it's a standard Ethernet question.

ARP entries are cached on surrounding devices. If you move an IP address to another physical device, surrounding devices may need to have their ARP caches cleared, or you can just let them time out.

Not really a big deal at all.

SIC doesn't need to be touched at all.
