| We're currently running NG R55. We've been planning an upgrade to NGX (well, not so much planning, as thinking, "We should probably do this"). And then, with great timing, one of my coworkers saw this "UTM" product. We read through the whitepaper, and thought it sounded like a great add-on. A day later, the NGX product is no longer listed (though there are links to it *everywhere* on their site, it's not actually listed as one of their products). Is VPN-1 UTM the replacement for NGX? Where does VPN-1 Power fit in (it doesn't seem to include many of the features of VPN-1 UTM)? I haven't yet figured out what the upgrade path is or should be. We're a small-to-mid-sized company, but we need high-availability. We'd like as much security as possible from the checkpoints, but it seems their "Enterprise" product (VPN-1 Power) doesn't have the security features of their UTM products? And then, everything refers to R55, R60, and R61. How do these fit in with their product names? I hate to sound like a newb, but I'm all confused. |

Even the resellers I know complain that it's all confusing now. Sorry I don't have more answers; I'm waiting for Check Point to clarify things. |

| IMHO UTM and Power are only new names for old products (ooooh, it's marketing). NGX will be NGX - it's name of product's version (it's software's names). From CP presentaion about UTM: Express and Express CI will be UTM Pro with SecureXL will be Power UTM and Power will be UTM Power Edge will be UTM Edge |

| UTM because Checkpoint is jumping on the Unified Threat Management bandwagon that everyone seems to be going crazy for. It's kinda sad to see checkpoint trying to compete with Watchguard and the like :) |
