Default IP online move - changing properties, does it matters?

Hi,

I got a few question about license properties, I would like to move IP for my SmartView Reporter/Monitor and I just wonder, if I'm also need to change the properties such as Hardware Brand Name, Hardware Platform & Operating System as well.

Do I need to change this similar to Management server or SUN ? Our management server is Windows 2000 server while our three gateways are SUN machine.

Regards,

Al

The main thing for a CheckPoint license is the IP address, along with the OS it will run on.

IE. A license generated for splat will not work on nokia platform. Even when using the same IP address.

Hope this helps..

Are you sure about this? I have used the same license on Windows, Nokia and Splat. I am using an eval so it may not be the best test case.

All licenses are platform independently, imho.

It seems to be a hit-or-miss if the license will work platform-to-platform. They SHOULD, but I have seen where a license generated for SPLAT doesn't work in windows.

If you are using central licensing, then you shouldn't have to do anything unless you change the SmartCenter server.
