Default smartdefense on a firewall VS Interspect

This question keeps coming up and I am not sure I know how to answer it correctly:

Can smartdefense on a firewall deliver the same set of “checks” (i.e. protection) that Interspect does?

Possible answers:

A: No. There are more signatures in smartdefense for Interspect than smartdefense for firewalls.
B: No. Same smartdefense, but Interspect has the horsepower to run them effectively. Firewalls don’t.
C: Yes. But you will need a lot of processing power on the firewall.
D: Other
