| Hi all, I got a smartcenter (Sun server with solaris 8) with smartcenter R55 installed in it. does anyone try to upgrade the R55 to NGX R65? does it have any guide for doing it? As we have other checkpoint running R55 and R65, does the Smartcenter run smooth with both version of checkpoint? many thanks, Danny |

| The Check Point docs are very good. Caveat: I've never run a SmartCenter on Solaris. You can do an in-place upgrade but it does leave a lot of files laying around. You may run into the issue where you decide to uninstall a component marked for R55 but it turns out it is now used by R65 (this happened to me on Windows). It's usually better to create an upgrade_export file, build the SmartCenter from scratch and then import the exported configuration. That way you're sure everything is clean, including the OS. Yes, an R65 SmartCenter can easily manage R55 firewalls. Ray |
