Default Gateway version later than SmartCenter

Hello,

We've got a requirement to install a cluster asap, but Splat R65 appears to be the only version that supports the NIC cards we're using.

Unfortunately the SmartCenter is R62, and we don't have time to prepare an upgrade to R65 for that as well, as we're looking to do that seperately in a month or 2.

Would there be any compatiability issues with managing the R65 cluster gateway from a R62 SmartCenter?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Yes you cannot manage your gateways on R65 if your SCS is R62, you will have to migrate first your management server. This is a must, there is no option.

Thanks for the response. I thought as much but wanted to see if it was possible as I couldn't find anything on the SecureKnowledge site.

The SmartCenter builds the policy based on the version (and OS) of the firewall. An R62 SmartCenter won't know how to build a policy for an R65 firewall.

That being said, SmartCenter upgrades are usually quite painless. I just put away a current upgrade_export for safekeeping and either do an in-place upgrade or do a format-install-HFA-upgrade_import. The latter is probably the best way to do a stable upgrade.
