Default NG R55 upgrade NGX R65

Dear All,

I tried to upgrade NG R55 to R65, SmartCenter show the upgrade was sucessfully. But GW cannot load the security policy.

Error Message from GW:

Failed to find a dynamic interface on DAIP module: No such file or directory
Failed to Load Security Policy: No such file or directory
Fetching Security Policy Failed
Failed to fetch policy from masters in masters file

Error Message from Smart Center when I push policy:
Failed to load security policy

CP GW is running DSL PPPoE, and get ip address from ISP. Just wonder is it NGX R65 don't support PPPoE or Dynamic IP address?

Any suggestion are welcome.

Regards,
Jim Qi

I see this in the forum not sure if it will be the solution but...

Hi All,

I had posted this on the CheckPoint forums but figured I should post here since it is such a great CheckPoint resource.

I recently upgraded to NGX R65 and had heaps of issues getting my PPPoE connections working. The issue relates to the PPPoE connection being assigned a metric variable that cannot be recognised.

Here is the solution if you are in the same boat.

To resolve the problem, perform the following changes in the /bin/ppp-connect script:

Comment out the following entry in the 'Set reasonable defaults' section:

if [ -z $METRIC ]; then METRIC=0; fi

Delete the "metric $METRIC" entry in the 'Standard PPP options we always use' section.

I then did a cpstop and cpstart.

What does "the SmartCenter showed the upgrade was successful" mean?

Was this a SmartCenter-only upgrade? Or is the SmartCenter on the firewall?

How did you do the upgrade? Manually or with SmartUpdate?

What operating system was involved?

Ray
