All We are ruuning on Checkpoint NG FP3 Our Smart Centre Server runs on IPSO We are planning two things here:- 1. Move our Smart centre server away from IPSO to Solaris 2. At the same time - upgarde the Smart Centre Server to NGX My questions are:- Which if any is the best way of doing this ? Has anyone gone through a similar process ?

I would probably try doing both at the same time. Do an upgrade_export on the current SmartCenter Server using the NGX version of upgrade_export. Install the OS and NGX on the new appliance. You will probably have to keep the same IP address and hostname on the new appliance. Go through cpconfig to finialize the setup of CheckPoint and then do the import on the new SCS. With doing it this way, if it doesn't work, you still have the old SCS that you should still be able to get working.

ok...... I understand what I need do however...... I'm missing some basics.... On my IPSO systems I don't have $FWDIR/bin/upgrade_tools directory - so where do I get this ?? This is currently on NG FP3. I'd like to use the NG FP3 version of upgrade_export to take a backup of my current system. Regards my upgrade, I need use the NGX version of upgrade_export...which I'll take from the cd pack - or is this available to download ? Thanks

You can download the version for FP3 from Check Point. http://www.checkpoint.com/downloads/...#upgrade_ngfp3 The one for NGX can be found here... http://www.checkpoint.com/downloads/...utilities.html
