Default License issue Upgrading from R60 to R62

Hello,

After a succesful upgrade_export on my former R60 Smartcenter (Nokia IP380) to my new R62 Smartcenter (Nokia IP560), the locally attached licenses on the mgmt station and firewalls refuse to be attached. it's being reported as invalid licenses despite retaining the same IPs for all new appliances. while the centrally managed licenses were attached automatically to the smartcenter. Now i can't even log on to the smartcenter via smartdashboard (says invalid license)

I will appreciate if someone can help me out soon as i'm in d middle of a project.

Thanx

Check Host Address Assignment on the Nokia, make sure is set to the same IP address as the SMARTCenter License address.

Mcnallym, thanks for the response.

i already have that checked and all seem to be well with the nokia addressing with respect to the licenses. but what baffles me is that the centrally managed license with the same Smartcenter IP was attached easily so i wouldn't know why there should be a problem with the local license or do u think there is a need to regenerate a new license for the new R62.

There shouldn't be, but I have always generated Central licenses for my SMARTCenter. As such not really sure why you would need to have a local license type for the SMARTCenter.

Certainly when using a Central license on the SMARTCenter never had this kind of issue.

You can add the license in then via SMARTUpdate as you should still have access to SMARTUpdate.

I take it that you can't add the license you have now in via SMARTUpdate

The problem is i can't even log-on to the smartcenter says "no valid license" but i can view the license repository through the command line. is it possible to change the mgmt license to being centrally managed and how do i go abt it.

I quite appreciate your concern

Do not confuse the SMARTDashboard with SMARTCenter. When you say you cannot login to the SMARTCenter what you mean is you cannot login to the SMARTDashboard. Even without a license you can login with SMARTUpdate into the SMARTCenter.

You can ALWAYS login to SMARTUpdate even if you have no valid license on the SMARTCenter. Within SMARTUpdate you can then add the license as you do any licensing.

I take it from this that you haven't tried adding the license in via SMARTUpdate then.
