I've got an NGX R65 SPLAT install...no HFA's installed. I've read the read me for HFA02, and nowhere does it say if it includes HFA01 or not. So...my question: Are the HFA's cumulative or do I need to install HFA01 first and then HFA02? Thanks in advance, Jay

Yes, they're always cumulative. If you always just install the current one, then you've always got them all.

That's a great question that even many experienced firewall admins don't know the answer to. HFAs are indeed cumulative as Barry posted. To be sure, it's all in the name: Hot Fix Accumulator Incidentally, not all current hotfixes are included into the next HFA. Sometimes they don't play well with others and have to be passed over until the next HFA. So, if you ever get issued a hotfix, work with your SE to find out when "your" hotfix gets added into an HFA.

There are some instances where they're not cumulative though. The VoIP hotfix for R61 is one of them (but this said I think they've included this as part of R65 now - no idea why they skipped it in R62 but hey :) Uniquely issued hotfixes are sometimes not included either - most likely as they've been written to fix something relatively insignificant or written for a particular customers needs.
