Default NGX memory requirements.

Hi,
I've got a IP380 at two sites that i want to upgrade from R55 on ipso 3.8 to NGX R62 or R65 if it's out soon on ipso 4.1 but they only have 256mb of memory, is there a recommended minimum. I'm trying to get a 1gb upgrade at the moment but it's proving hard to find, would 512mb be enough?

Thanks
Col.

Try KINGSTON, INTEL, DELL, IBM, COMPAQ, HP, CISCO, VIKING, DDR2, DDR, SDRAM MEMORY www . upgradebay . com for the memory. We just got some used IP530 memory from them for about half price, still in a Nokia box.

How much bandwidth do you have? Are you going to run QoS?

I've got a couple of IP530's running R61 with 512 MB on IPSO 4.1 and they're fine.

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the info. I bought some memory from crucial.com, it had to be PC133 ECC SDRAM for the IP380 but it just wouldn't power on when i replaced the server. I had seen the upgrade bay pages when searching but as i'm in the uk it'd be a bit akward to purchase it. Might have to look into it though if i can't source any locally in the uk.

If not i'll look at a 512mb option as i'm not using QoS and only have a 4mb inbound connection so from what you've mention that might suffice. Never easy this stuff is it :)

Thanks
Col.
