Default Can I safely Run Upgrade_export.exe ?

1.If I run the upgrade_export.exe this will create my backup file on my R55 live production box yes?

2.Is there any risk or overhead in running this tool in the live production environment?

3. can I save the output from the upgrade_export.exe 7 put it on a disc or whatever folder & when I have installed my new R60/R61 can I the IMPORT this file from Whichever location?

It creates an import file, which is different from a "backup file". There's a seperate utility, at least for SPLAT, called "backup" which will backup CP data [like the upgrade_export does] as well as system data such as IP addresses, passwords and hostname information.

None that I've experienced and I do it quite often. It's recommended that you disconnect the Smart Apps before running the upgrdae_export.

That is correct. I will note that changes to *.def files are not backed up.
