Hello & Thanks in advance for any help I might get. Basically I have been tasked with upgrading a customer who has an intergrated Smart centreserver/Enforment module running R55 NGAI Build 127 Running on windows 2000 which has 20gb HD with 4GB spare. 1.25 GIG OF ram I need to upgrade this to R60a at least. AS I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE FOLLOWING? 1.WILL THE PRESENT SETUP BE OK UPGRADE? 2.IS THERE ANY COMPREHENSIVE DOCUMENTATION THAT WILL GUIDE ME THROUGH THIS PROCESS? 3. IS THIS A STRAIGHT FORWARD PROCESS OR WILL I BE IN A WORLD OF PAIN, BEARING IN MIND MY LACK OF EXPERIENCE IN UPGRADING & i HAVE NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL WITH R60

OK then, I'll try this instead! 1.If I run the upgrade_export.exe this will creat my backup file on my R55 live production box yes? 2.Is there any risk or overhead in running this tool in the live production environment? 3. can I save the output from the upgrade_export.exe 7 put it on a disc or whatever folder & when I have installed my new R60/R61 can I the IMPORT this file from Whichever location?

1. You can run on prod. env., you shold always download and use the latest version of the uty. 2. No problem using this on a live env. 3. Yes. + Remember when going from NG to NGX you ned to "upgrade" you licens. If you have your own usercenter , just pull licenses for NGX. Or cont. your dealer for "new" NGX licenses.
