Default conversion/upgrading licenses and configuration (NG AI to NGX)

Dear Techies,

I have two SmartCenter server, i.e.,

i. SmartCenter in NG AI version (that would be replaced to ii.)
ii. SmartCenter in NGX version on new hardware.

I'm planning to migrate the existing SmartCenter (NG AI version) into NGX R62 version on a new hardware. This will involves of converting the existing licenses to NGX and importing all configuration from NG AI to NGX. My question is which part I should do first,

i. convert the existing licenses on SmartCenter (NG) then export it all (including the configuration) to the new SmartCenter NGX OR
ii. import all configuration (including licenses) into NGX and perform the conversion of licenses in it.

Am never perform any NG AI to NGX licenses before and I would like to get your advice about this matter.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Regards,

Al

Default Re: conversion/upgrading licenses and configuration (NG AI to NGX)

Hi
Well this is not a big issue.
Regarding licences log in to the checkpoint useraccount and generate a NGX licence and insert in the new NGX smartcenter.
Regarding the backup:Take the backup from the previous NG AI smartcenter using NG AI utilities-->upgrade_export <filename>.
Copy this file to new server ie NGX in the same folder where your NGX utilities are placed.
Now using the NGX utilities -->upgrade_import <filename>
Import the backup.
Now you new NGX server with previous setting and policies is ready.

If you need any help then let me know.

I hope this will help you.

Regards
Ranjit
