Re: Management and Upgrade Issues Hi I am currently trying to move our existing fp3 management (win2k) server to a new win2003 server on a different IP address and hostname. I have been following the procedure in "Phoneboy's" Essential Check Point Firewall-1 book on moving management modules, but I have hit a snag. I have installed fp3 on the new server with the same service packs as the source server and successfully copied the relevant source directories and SIC registry key from the source machine. My initial question is do I have to change the "MySICname" entry in the SIC registry key to the new server name or leave it as the original? Also I have changed the SmartCenter license on Check Point's Usercenter to the new management's IP address and installed this license. However, I don't understand if I am supposed to change all the firewall module (central) licenses to the new management IP also at this time. My biggest issue is the fear of being caught in a "limbo" position, where the new management station won't talk to the firewall modules, and I won't be able to revert back. All config documents on the net seem to refer to migrating to new servers but retaining the hostname, therefore any help that can be offered will be greatly appreciated. |
