Default Basic Nokia IP265 setup questions

Hi Guys,

I have just opened a Nokia IP265 Firewall. We now have to get the CHeckpoint Licence and the software to connect to the firewall.
Just wondering if anyone could tell me what the basic software is that we need to configure the Checkpoint side of it. It is NGX R62. Our supplier is trying to sell us all sorts of stuff, but I am under the impression we just need the SmartConsole??

Also, can the Firewall still be set to allow traffice to go through without the Checkpoint Package Enabled? I tried to change the default filter to defaultfilter.ipso, but still couldn't get any traffic in or out..

Thanks for any suggestions
Damien

If Check Point is not running, or you're not running a policy (run "fw unloadlocal") you can turn IPSO into a router by running "ipsofwd on admin".

SmartConsole configures policies, yes, but those policies need to be stored and compiled somewhere, and this will be on a separate system to your IP265. You need to have SmartCenter Server installed somewhere, for SmartConsole to connect to.
