Enabling IP Forwarding on Windows NT/2000 Yes, you do need to enable this option in the TCP/IP settings. If you tell it to, FireWall-1 will control the state of IP Forwarding so that when you uninstall a security policy (or type 'fwstop'), IP Forwarding will be disabled. However, packets will not forward at all (and FireWall-1 can't control IP forwarding) if the IP Forwarding option is not checked in the Windows NT TCP/IP Properties, so it is highly recommended that you have this option checked. In Windows 2000, IP Forwarding is enabled per
Q230082, which means editing the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters\IPEnableRouter
This is a REG_DWORD that should be set to 1 .
