Default R55 to R61 Upgrade & Migration issues

Guys,

I would appreciate some advice regarding upgrading & migrating a management server (R55) to a new 2003 server with R61.

I am running a test rig within VMware to process the upgrade and server migration and have followed CP documentation. The only thing which I cannot simulate is the License upgrade processes. I have corrected all issues reported by the verification tool and completed an export of my R55 management station. Installed fresh copy of 2003 server and run the R61 installation. If I attempt to install with old configuration file I do not get the option to install SmartCenter server, only VPN-1 Pro and SmartConsole. If I continue the installation if fails with:

DB Error
Failed to get the next state from the BD file

I am thinking that my existing NG licenses need to be upgraded to NGX for the upgrade process to work.

would appreciate any thoughts?

regards

Normally not.
You should be able to import the config with the old NG licenses.
You will only be able to access SmartUpdate afterwards to update you licenses.

What I would try:
Do a new installation without importing the old config during the installation.
Then after a succesfull installation do an upgrade_import
