Default Problems running cpconfig

Hi,

I am trying to install the Checkpoint NGX R60 package onto a Nokia IP265. I have gotten to where I run cpconfig. When I run this I keep getting error
' can not get CPDIR from the registry '
Any suggestions would be great!

Just checking, but did you use the package for flash-based systems?

Yes I think so. It's the one that was pre-installed on the system. I had just activated it from the voyager interface and then ran the cpconfig from the console after a reboot.

This seems to be a problem with using the smartcard and R60 - HFA2 and below.

I would disable the smartcard.
Install HFA3. (I've not been able to get HFA4 to install yet!)
Enable the smart card.
BTW - I generally found this problem on after a "halt". Reboots seem to work fine.

I've had also problems to install HFA4 on IP560 (diskless) with NGX R60.

After more than four tries and a lot of debugging I got the solution.

- When installation of HFA4 failed (Error message: The HFA was NOT installed!) make a reboot

- Link to CPsuite.tgz should still exist
- Don't clean your /var/tmp directory as it is described in release note
- Do the next steps until UnixInstallScript should be executed, but don't do this.
- Go to /var/hfa/CPvpn and extract fw1_R60_HFA.tgz
- Execute binary manually
- All works fine

I hope this will help you to install HFA4 on your machine.

Regards,
Pascal

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "Execute binary manually". Could you please provide a bit more detail. Thanks.

After running tar zxvf fw1_R60_HFA.tgz, you get a binary executable file, named something like fw1_HOTFIXxxx.

Pascal means run that binary, by going ./fw1_HOTFIXxxx

That executes the file, which installs the HFA.

That what I thought, but was hoping differant! HFA4 still does not install. I'll try to dig into it deeper and open another thread if necessary. Thanks for your help

Hmm. What does happen when you try and run that patch?

Which platform are you doing this on? A 390/560 or a 265?

Check out your available disk space too. Might have to empty /preserve/opt/tmp

I've tested this "workaround" on IP560-series (diskless) with IPSO 4.1B19 and NGX R60 -> Upgrade to HFA4.

What's you exact problem? I've tested different possibilities and this one works fine for me. Maybe I can help you?

It is an IP265 with smartcard memory. Here is the error:
"Checking installation for Check Point VPN-1 Pro/Express NGX R60 R60_04
In order for this package to be installed, VPN-1 Pro/Express NGX R60 needs to be installed first.
Please refer to the release notes for more information about installation dependencies.

The package was checked and found not suitable for installation !
Package check failed for fw1.

Installation aborted"

In previous NGX hotfixes on disk-based systems, I've had to create a symlink for/op/CPshared/5.0 to /opt/CPsuite-R60/svn. This link does exist.
