Default IP440 Additional Question

NE1 know the latest build that functions properly on the IP440's. I saw one member with build 3.8 in their signature for their IP440.

Also what is the latest Check Point FW that functions properly on it.

If there is a link that point me in the right direction I would appreciate that as well. I've already looked through Nokia's support document that list build information as well as compatibility with CP FW's. It doesn't help out as well with Appliances that are at the End Of Service.

The highest supported is 3.8. With this version of IPSO you can run R55 for IPSO 3.8 (aka R55p).

at home i succeded to install ipso 4.0 and ngx r60 on ip440, but my test are only basic....no production tests.
2 rules without nat and ngx is working, but this means nothing.

If you're really going for unsupported and you're not married to Nokia technology, you can hook up a monitor and keyboard and load SPLAT on it. I'm currently trying out R61 over SPLAT on a old retired IP440.

The IP440 is just a fancy case on a PIII Motherboard. The BIOS doesn't really even support console redirect to the serial port, as you don't get any display on the serial port until the OS comes up a little bit. The later IP series boxes have better BIOS support for headless configs plus the boot flash. The IP440 just isn't that sophisticated. (actually The case is pretty nice, I have considered putting a really fast twin processor motherboard in it and scare the Cisco rep when he comes by to push the PIX stuff at me -- "my old hardware beats your pix... no thanks" :)

Rebuilt my IP440 w/ SPLAT, but it doesn't have drivers for the 4 port 10/100 cards. Rather than stick in a bunch of singleton ether cards, I tried loading 4.1 w/ NGX R61 using a 3.8 boot disk. Works fine with a fairly complex rule set as far as my testing went. I'll post more later once I have a bit more time on the box...
