Default Help: Windows GUI interface and double firewalls.

Hi all,

I might need to install one more windows GUI interface (i.e. the security policy viewer, system viewer and log viewer) on another PC of win98 platform for easier remote administration. (Currently, there is already one PC of win 98 platform running that GUI client). The exising checkpoint version is an old one, version 4.1 running its own management module console in sun solaris platform. Does anyone know how to install one more window GUI interface on my pc? Will the installation affect the existing PC having that GUI interface, and also most importantly the whole checkpoint firewall?

Also, for network redundancy purpose, can 2 checkpoint firewall be used simultaneously with one internet broadband? That is , in case 1 checkpoint firewall goes down, the other checkpoint firewall becomes active, provided that the internet broadband also does not fail. If that "double firewall" architecture allows, can checkpoint be compatible with other firewall applicances like Netscreen firewall?

Thanks very much

Racery2k.

Hello,

As far as I am aware you can install as many GUI clients as you like (don't forget to set them up as GUI clients). I don't think you have to stop and start services for them to be accepted but 4.1 being old you might have to.

Checkpoint does support high availability (it ain't cheap). If you have paid your subscriptions you should be able to upgrade to the later versions of checkpoint for free.

I don't think 4.1 is supported anymore.

Cheers,

George
