Upgrading from NG FP2 to NGX R60

Hi All,

I'm new to checkpoint and I was tasked to perform an upgrade of NG FP2 to NGX R60.

The existing NG FP2 is running on a windows 2000 platform.

May I ask;
Q1) Can NG FP2 be upgrade directly to NGX R60 using the CD.

I have tried to do so in with a backup server and it does not work. I used the new license file from the user centre and import the configuration from the NG FP2 server using the upgrade_import tool.

Q2) Am I doing the right thing? Anyone, kindly hightlight any things that I need to take note of?

You did not specify if you upgraded a SmartCenter module (management) or
Enforcement module (firewall).

Make sure you use the documentation from Checkpoint.
They have written een excellent upgrade guide to NGX.
Especially the pre_upgrade_verifier (page 59)

And the upgrade paths on page 14.

I think all your questions will be gone after reading this document.
