Default Hardware Upgrade: New Interface Names

We are in the process of replacing our existing NG55 firewall with new hardware. (Going from a Sun Netra T1 to a 240)

The existing hardware has interfaces of hme[0,1] and qfe[0-3].

The new hardware has interfaces of ce[0-2] and bge[0-2].

What I'm planning on doing is an upgrade_export on the existing firewall and then an import during the install of NG 55 on the new hardware. This should keep SIC established with the management console.

On the management console, I hope to do a "Get Topology" on the new hardware which will then have the new interfaces. Then push to the new hardware.

Does this sound like a solid plan? Will the change in interfaces impact Securemote users in any way? I want to minimize impact on end users/SR.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Sounds like you've got the right plan to me. You might want to look at NGX R60 or R61 though.
