Default Smartcenter Manager R55 (Build127) Migrate Windows to Solaris

I have been looking through the Checkpoint sk's to try and understand how I can easily migrate our windows checkpoint manager to a solaris one (ready to go and already installed smartcenter). However the ultimate updrade guide and sk11635 do not describe in any detail how to do this for R55 and the files are not where they say they are or even threre on the windows manager and I am not convinced because it does not include the rulebases or policy either.

There is also a procedure where you use the upgrade and export tools. Does this mean I can export from windows manager and use the file exported on the UNIX manager and import it. Also there is the wrapper way however this looks as though it will break my windows manager as I need to migrate back again ! which does not make sense.

I hope this issue makes sense! Is there any information out there on how this can easily be tackled. Much appreciated.
Martyn.

I believe that the upgrade_export will work across platforms. You should be able to export it from Windows and import it on Solairs.

I have seen a few posts where it doesn't work across platforms but I think it is 'supposed' to work.

Yes upgrade_export should work in this case. As long as you are going to the same or new version you should be fine.

Thankyou for the responses. I have now sucessfully used the upgrade and export binaries to migrate the manager from wintel to unix. It was really simple. Useful for backing up the firewall manager application.

Just need to add the smartcenter license again.

thanks,
Martyn.
