| Hello All, This forum is for discussion on Check Point's certification exams. I know for many people getting certified is an important career goal and the exams have a certain reputation for being unnecessarily difficult. Here is where we can share information and help each other out. |

| Agreed. if you work with FW1 regually. then CCSA isnt hard. CCSA from what i remember there was a lot on smart defence and general GUI usage. CCSE is pretty much all VPN/Encryption and VoIP with some other minor bits thrown in. If you swot up on those then you should be fine. The best thing to do in any circumstance, build up a 2 or 3 port machine up and install it at home and run it on eval licences for a while. and just keep fiddling. you'll get used to it after a while. and will help you know end in doing the exams. There is the reputation attached that the exams are "the hardest in the business" etc. but having passed both first time having only having used to a CP firewall for about 8 months, i doubt that. i was VERY surprised to pass CCSE after hearing all the horror stories! And have no doubt that a person that has over a years experiance configuring CP FW's would be able to pass relatively easily. |

| You could configure vmware with Secureplatform (having the latest version), the Checkpoint software is fully compatible with the virtual network interfaces: if you have a powerful machine you can even simulate a little test lab with two or more firewalls!!! I suggest Boson checkpoint tests, and Actualtest for home studying. They are worth the money you spend. __________________ Alfredo Cozzino CCSA/CCSE NG AI Last edited by alfcoz; 2005-09-28 at 05:46. |

Having just taken CCSE (42%) & CCSA (58%) NGX and failing i can tell you that they are quite hard. I have only had just under 1 months experence with firewall1 having just finished uni (with a computer science degree). I was very surprised when viewing the exams how hard they were compared to the suporting material from the books suplied on the course. I see you mentioned Boson and actualtest can you send me the links people dude. Also anyone with any material that can help me to pass the second time arround would be brill. | Hi all, I’m new here so apology for asking the same question. I did the FP2 course 3 years ago and never took the exams. I’m now what to pick it up again; I know how important it is to have the right material when dealing with Checkpoint. Obviously attempting the latest CCSA exam will be somewhat different (compared to FP2) IS the following book applicable for Exam 156-210.4 CCSA NG: Check Point Certified Security Administrator Study Guide ISBN: 0782141153 Published: 2003-01-14 Author: Justin Menga Pages: 656 Publisher: Sybex It does seem old. Secondly with exception to the Exam Cram2 book, are there any other books for this cert. Regards…. |

the problems are several: 1st) as far as i know the two Sybex books don't even arrive at NG AI, (the .4 extension after exam code means AI...) I still did not found the NGX test at boson!!! 2nd) Checkpoint will replace the AI exams in Augst 2006. It would be a better investment to study DIRECTLY CCSA/CCSE NGX, nevertheless if you are already an NG AI CCSE you can take the CCSE NGX ACCELERATED exam (so if you are CCSA NG AI you need only two exams to renew your certification) 3rd) The links requested are www.boson.com www.actualtests.com www.testking.com _*Sadly*_, none of the tree still has the NGX exams listed... I think (this is true also for me) we should reschedule the exam in 2006, hoping to find those exam hints. A little word about experience. I had my NG AI certs after having studied the exams, redo the lab with vmware and many hours of session simulation with boson. All of this with three year experience and a computer science degree as well. Best regards. __________________ Alfredo Cozzino CCSA/CCSE NG AI Last edited by alfcoz; 2005-10-24 at 14:57. |

NGX exam is only available from AUGUST 2005. Do you mean you cleared NG AI CCSA, don't you? __________________ Alfredo Cozzino CCSA/CCSE NG AI |

| Hi all, I have been using checkpoint for as long as I have been a member of these forums (you can probably see me learning as I go in my posts). My company has sent me on the management 1 and 2 courses for NG with AI and I just passed by CCSA exam the other day. All I did was study the CP provided course ware, use CP every day at work (which is partially helpful as I have not had to actually create any NATs etc and a few other things) and use the Boson exam simulation software. I plan on using the same approach for the CCSE exam. |
