as far as i know there isn't one, as you supply one during the initial config.
if you don't know the password, there is a way you can reset it if you have psychical console access

Thanks for the info. I set up an admin userid and password and can get in that way. However, I need to back up the $FWDIR/conf and lib directories. I can't see these directories under admin. so I thought I would try logging on as root. When I ssh directly into the Nokia, it prompts me for the root password (which I did not change during installation).

Any suggestions on what files to back up and how to access these files (I am not running SPLAT).

There is no root password. You log in as admin. I don't understand why you are saying you can't see those directories as admin. What do you see if you do ls /opt ?

And rather than doing backups that way, why not just use the Voyager backup, and include the option to backup Check Point data?

default password is "password", if you do not supply one within 5 minutes
after booting up the box. The default password is "password".
