Default Checkpoint in a box

I love Checkpoint!

But I hate the fact that I have to setup a server to put the Management Console (although for CP in Solaris and Windows, the Management Console can be put together with the FW). I hate to purchase a separate hardware, OS and anti-virus, pay for hardware maintenance and the pain of managing them to regularly update their patches.

I hope one day CP will have its own box all-in-one :). Yes I know the Edge.

Remember Novell and Microsoft before Netware 5?

You can install SmartCenter and Firewal Module on one machine and have SmartConsole on your own computer. So you don't need additional costs for your hardware. If you want install ALL on one server... you can use Windows system, for example, and install all on it. But in fact it conflicts with Check Point SMART architecture.

You can use SmartPortal for CP managment.

They even used to sell a VSO SmallOffice license that integrated everything. I shudder each time I read about someone doing that, though. I don't think I've ever read of someone with a distributed environment asking how to recover their rulebase and objects from a distributed environment, and I have read it many times for someone who has all-on-one. For whatever reason.
