Hi All, I just installed R65 Smartcenter (machine A) and R65 Eventia Reporter Server (machine B) from scratch. All works fine but if I try to open the Eventia Reporter GUI within the Smart Dashboard (under Window - Eventia Reporter) I get an error: "Failed to initialize communication with Eventia Reporter Server. Check that the server is running (IP of Smartcenter server (machine A)!). It seems for me that the Smartcenter server is not aware of the separate reporting server and tries to connect to itself. If I open the EV Reporter GUI directly (via Start-Program-Checkpoint... - EV Reporter) where I can insert the right IP address of the EV Reporter Server (machine B) it works fine. In the past (e.g. R61) there was an EV reporter add-on which you have to install at the Smartcenter server to communicate via Smartcenter server to the EV reporter. With R65 there is no option to install the add-on only. Supposedly with R65 that is not necessary and also not possible to select while installation. So maybe the design in general has changed. Can anyone share his/her experience about this? Is it possible to connect EV-Reporter via Smartcenter (Smart Dashboard-Window-EV Reporter) as in the past (R61) or is there only the way to connect directly between EV GUI Client and EV server with R65? Thanks Bernhard

Hi, i have the same problem here. If I connect directly to the reporter it works fine. My problem is that when i try to generate a report, i get a message : no relevant data found Any idea ? Thanks Arno

Let's say your SCS is IP_A and Eventia is IP_B. You are connected to Dashboard on IP_A and want to open Eventia, you must open the Eventia GUI manually and change the IP from IP_A (the last IP you connected to) to IP_B and then type your credentials. Question: Do you plan on using the Eventia server as a log server? If so, you will find that you will not be able to save custom queries using your shared SCS login (works if you have a local login, like admin). I have the fix if anyone needs it. __________________ There's no place like 127.0.0.1 |

Hi lammbo, what you wrote sounds reasonable but fact is that with "older" versions (R61) this works. I have a productive distributed enviroment with R61 and there it's possible to use EV-Gui via Smartdashboard. But maybe this design has changed with R65. Regarding your question about logserver I'm a little bit confuse. I made a test and it's possible for me to use an admin account which I created at smartdaschboard to use for EV-Reporter also. Saving custom reports works fine. But maybe this was fixed with R65 HFA 2 which I use for my tests. Bernhard Last edited by berni : 3 Weeks Ago at 02:44.

No, I'm using R65 as well with HFA_02 installed and my environment is also distributed. When I reported the error, CP and my VAR confirmed the behavior in both labs and CP confirmed it's a coding bug. Unless they recompiled and replaced the HFA_02 available for download since I reported the issue, we're on the same version. Note: CP has done this with the HFA's before. As for what older versions did with the GUI, I cannot confirm this as I only started running the Eventia Suite when R63 was still EA. I have seen previous postings where this has been mentioned. Maybe CP will fix this someday as well and put it back to the way it used to be. It is very annoying. __________________ There's no place like 127.0.0.1
