Default Backup Firewall setup?

I'm wanting to setup a spare machine as a backup. We're running SPLAT with both the enforcement and management module on the same box. I use backup to create the .tgz file and then ftp it to a laptop. I install SPLAT and during the config, choose to fetch the .tgz file from the tftp server. All goes well it seems, I reboot. And then, the problem is that I can't see my objects and rulebase from Smartconsole running on my laptop. Should I be able to see these objects, or do I have remove the original then bolt in this spare firewall and then connect to it via Smartdashboard before I'm able to see the rules and objects?

Default Re: Backup Firewall setup?

You probably want to run ' upgrade_export ' and FTP the TGZ file off, then do a frsh install and copy the file from the FTP to the new box. The run the ' upgrade_import '. This will backup and restore all objects, lics, certs everything.
