Default upgrade import

I am trying to restore a primary SmartCenter server (NGX R60) from a backup file using the "upgrade import" function. The installation of Smart console seems to go OK.
It then tries to import the database config (.TGZ) backup file which I extracted from the old server.
I get the following error messages:
"upgrade import function failed, please check the log file"
"DB error- failed to get the next state from the BD file"

Is anyone able to advise me how I can proceed? Many thanks

Hi

Did you try the Installation Setup of NGX R60 using the option import from the exported configuration?

Thanks for you reply MC. Yes I did. I actually found the answer to the problem though on the checkpont knowlege base of all places. The server has to be "connected to the network" when you do the upgrade import. I connected it to an isolated switch with an ethernet cable and it worked fine. Very strange

This is not strange at all, particularly if your OS is windows. To initiate the SmartCenter certificate, there needs to be an active interface that the CA can use to assign the cert to an IP and a FDQN/hostname. In Windows, whenever an interface is disconnected, it also unbinds all IP information, which stuffs up a SmartCenter install.

Another reason not to use windows in a Check Point environment,,,,
