The script behind check point is not very readable at all. If you are worried about making errors then login using the Read Only button enabled so that you cannot make any changes. This way you can what you like in the Dashboard but you can't change it. Or export using the Web Visualization tool and view in a Web Browser.

You can view the rule set, objects (notes, groups, networks) and services, however things like the global settings will not show up in the Web Visualization tool. I have found it great as a documentation tool for keeping a snapshot of the ruleset at a particular time.

cpinfo -o filename, will provide an output for CP diagnostic use. It contains all the output of the OS and CP configuration files into one big text file, it's good for advance troubleshooting, not for backup or reference, it's hard to read all those lines... database_export instead for backup purpose. Web Visualization tool is good for a quick reference of the rule base, objects, services.
