I am basically trying to bring up a new management station for R60 on Windows 2003 with a different IP. For some reason, the upgrade_export failed "Failed to read local configuration file". Anyway, I basically brought up the new management station and copied the important files Objects_5_0.c, rulebases_5_0c, fwauth.ndb, base.def and copied them to the new management station. The objects are all there, no problem! The problem is that the rulesbases are NOT there when I do a File/open. They do show up when I do a File/save, but that doesn't do me any good. Any help appreciated! thanks!

1. Make sure using ftp-binary to transfer the exported_file 2. try to open the exported_file with winzip or something, you should able to see the files 3. remove any files from the $FWDIR/tmp directory and run the import again. ** be reminded that to logout any Dashboard before perform step 3

When you use the upgrade export file to create a new management station, then you have to use the same ip on the new system. When using a different ip the licence will be invallid. When you want to use another ip on the new system. Then you first have to build the new system and use dbexport on the old system to export all the files and use cpmerge to merge them in the new system.

Going back to the original question, though, how is it you brought the objects, rulebases, fwauth and base.def files over? What version are you running? __________________ Robert Zimmerman |

Copying the rulebases_5.0.c doesn't add the policies into the database. If you have the objects and the user database already in there then I would suggest that you use the cp_merge to export the policies from the old management server and then import into the new management server.
