Default Fresh install on C2 Platform

Hello,

I have 3 unit C2 (new) which is installed COS 4.0 already. I am going to install Checkpoint NGX 6.5 on them. Since COS version 4.0 did not support to NGX 6.5 , I must upgrade into COS v6.0 / 6.1. I heard from my friend is better to do a fresh install rather than upgrade because the upgrade process result will be not stable and have many errors.

I read from document that for fullfill this process, I have to prepare a Install Server and make some additional configuration like diskless partition etc.

I'm already connect the install server (v5.1) to C2 (port eth-1/mgmt) by using a cross cable. From that document too, I read that I must force C2 to boot from LAN (press L when menu is show) but the result is nothing and the device booting from local harddisk.

My question is :
1. Which MAC Address should I register at Install Server (/etc/dhcpd.conf)? Mac Address from eth1/mgmt or the others?

2. If the others, how to get the correct MAC Address to register at Install Server?

Thanks.
Lukmana

Default Re: Fresh install on C2 Platform

You will need to use the MAC address of the interface that is connected to the installserver, usually 'management'.
