Dear all,

I use Crossbeam X40, XOS 5.1.4. Have anyone installed Crossbeam X40 and XOS 5.14? You can guide me step to install X40 or you can send me the document to install X40.

Thank you very much.

You can send to email: duykhang2711@yahoo.com.vn

The X40 is a little more complex then just telling you how to install. And your XOS version seems really old, since 7.x is the latest. You have dual CPMs?
Crossbeam has great documentation on their website.

Hmm... when u mean install, do you mean reinstall the entire x40? Or u want to upgrade to lastest XOS??

Can post your "show system" please? Pls note that NOT ALL MODULES support XOS v7.3.0 and up...

Hmm.... to reinstall the XOS, you'll need an install server. You can download it off Crossbeam Support, website, if you manitainence is still valid, you can create and account and download it... For XOS 7.3.x branch, not too sure if you can run it optimally, but to play safe, i would think 7.2.x branch will be safer... latest atm if i'm not mistaken is XOS 7.2.1.4 for GA releases..

Actually you don't require an install server, you could perform upgrades although I do not believe you can go from XOS 5 to XOS 7.2 directly so you would need to upgraded between the major releases. The only reason I would go the upgrade route over the install server is you configuration will also need to upgraded. Now if you are wiping clean your configuration/starting fresh then the install server method is the best route. You will require a support account on Crossbeam's site to download the install server and XOS code.

I have never encountered XOS 5.x.x, could perform a "show version" and post the output?

The only hardware related restriction for XOS 7.3 has to deal with the power supple type, I don't remember the specific reason.

XOS v7.3 branch has many enhancements:
- Support for 8600 series blades
- Support for x40/80 AC-3
- Support for new 2700 watts psu for AC-3 chassis'es
- Support for new CBI installer packages, all new applications will be developed based on this new CBI extension
- Support for new version NGX VSX (not too sure about vsx)
- Many bugfixes

Moreover, for such major version jumps, its always best to reinstall the entire thing than upgrade.. since you can rule out possible leftover remenats of problems...
