Default about the command "configure vap-group fw load-balance-vap-list"

Hi all

I use Crossbeam X40 + Checkpoint VSX v2.5. I install Checkpoint VSX at 2 APM (slot 3 (fw_1) and slot 4(fw_2)). I configure 2 module installed Checkpoint VSX to load balancing. Now, I want to use the command "configure vap-group fw load-balance-vap-list" to remove 1 APM and traffic will only go through 1 APM. Now, I confuse about the command "configure vap-group fw load-balance-vap-list 1"

CBS# show ap-vap-mapping
Module Slot Status VAP IP Address VAP Group Index Master (t/f)
AP1 3 Up 1.1.0.103 fw 2 f
AP2 4 Up 1.1.0.102 fw 1 t

CBS# show vap-group
VAP Group : fw
Load Priority : 10
Preemption Priority : 10
AP List : ap1 ap2
VAP Count : 2
Max Load Count : 2
Load Balance VAP List : 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 1 2
IP Forwarding (t/f) : t
Delay Flow (seconds) : 0
Backup Mode : none
Remote Box Backup (t/f) : f
Reload Timeout (seconds) : 0

Now, I want to ask "load-balance-vap-list" will show the index VAP or slot which Checkpoint VSX is installed? If Index fw_1 will be 2 but Slot of fw_1 will be 3. I am confusing because I don't know load-balance-vap-list show vap index or slot.

If you know, please answer me early.

Thanks

Duy Khang

Hello Duy.

I am not sure about your question, because i dont really uderstand you at all. But maybe i can help you explaining what Crossbeam says about that comand in their XOS Configuration Guide.

Defining the VAP group load-balance-vap-list:
load-balance-vap-list [1-63]
The load-balance-vap-list i a list of VAP indexes that the NPM uses to load balance NEW flows. For example, you have a VAP group with 3 VAPs (fw1,fw2,fw3), the NPM load-balances over all three VAPs by default. Hello Duy.You can force the NPM to load balance over indexes 1 and 2 as follows:
CBS (config-vap-grp)# load-balance-vap-list 1 2
The NPM ignores indexes included in the command that do no exist. For example, the NPM will ignore indexes 4 5 6 7 8 9 in the command for a VAP group that only has 3 indexes.

I hope its helpful for you.

Laterzzz.

Hi gzurro,

Thank you for your answer. I read the document of Crossbeam about the command but I don't understand.

I want to ask:

load-balance-vap-list [1-63]

[1-63] will show the index of AP or the slot of AP.

For example:

Fw_1 will have index 1 but it is slot 3. Fw_2 will have index 2 but it is slot 4. I confuse about the index and slot in the above command.

You can see the attachment file. If you know, please answer me.

Thank you,

Khang

Hello Duy.

The range [1-63] is refering to the VAP index, not to the slot.

Have luck with it !

Cheerzzz.
