Default CPUG Con 2007 a success!

I wanted to post an attending CPUG member's view of the conference while we're here.

It's the second day and still going on right now, chillyjim is speaking about licensing and there are a lot of good questions. This is great!

There's a fabulous turn out of CheckPoint employees, and it's great to rub elbows with both the SEs and the TAC guys who've been working with CheckPoint for years. Just hearing about their experiences is impressive. Resilience is here in numbers, and Nokia is here as well.

The keynote speaker this morning, Alan Brill, from Kroll-Ontrack was marvelous. This is a really valuable conference and I'm definitely coming next year even if I have to pay for it out of my own pocket again.

Barry says he's going to post a lot of the PowerPoints and expert's notes in the forums. This is an impressive amount of information. From what I hear, next year's event is going to go into planning starting next month. Stay tuned so you can make your plans early and attend next year.

I was hoping they would be posted already. I didn't want to have to dig thru my notes to find the "mail me at such and such address with so and so subject to get a softcopy of this presentation" info.

I'm happy I went. It was definately time and money well spent.

Hi Robert,

unfortunately, I could not join the conference.

How many attendees do you estimate? Any ball park figures?

And: Where is Barry at the moment? He did not write a brief resume of the Conference, yet!

Kind regards,
Yasushi

PS: For those, who are familiar with German language. In a couple of months you will be able to purchase a book I have written! Look at:

I tried to upload my presentation to the forums, but it's too large. I sent it to Barry and asked him to upload it. Hopefully, he'll post this stuff in the next few days.

Yasushi, nice job getting a book published. I'm quite impressed. If you're looking for someone to read it and give their "Senf dazu" on amazon.de or whatever, just let me know. I did that for Dameon when he got his NG book published.

Hi Robert,

thank you in advance for your "Senf dazu"! If you can give me your shipping address and your job title, I could let send a copy of the book to you!

I was been at the customer's site until today. Originally, my job was to teach Sec Adm III. But the customer asked me, if I could do a cluster upgrade from R60 to R62. So, I began to talk about the preparation and about some of the commands you should use beforehand... and suddenly, the customer asked me, if I could do the upgrade on their production system!

Nice idea, but I could not do this. Otherwise, my boss would have chopped my head off!

But the upgrade in the lab environment went well. I could manage to upgrade the cluster without disruption of already established connections. I do not speak of a permanent ping or http connectivity. We did an ftp download in the background! The ftp download did not disrupted at all! The customers were really impressed!

Kind regards,
Yasushi
