Check microsoft patches while scanning

is there a possibility to scan the pc if it is up-to-date with the microsoft patches, like the Anti virrus scan?

can this be done with a script ? anybody else doing this already ?

I do not know about the scripts but I am aware of some products that can help you to know which patches are missing, even it is compatible with different operating systems and even antivirus updates.
There are certain products like McAfee Orchestrator, Websense Security Suite etc.Or you can try with the latest version of Nessus, it is the vulnerability scanner.
