Is there anything worth noting about setting up an SDSL connection with a Cisco router>Nokia IP260 & NGXR60 installed, such as bandwidth utilisation when downloading remote policies or using the Nokia as the VPN peer? We're going for this configuration in a small remote office in Eastern Europe and hoping that 2MB SDSL will be sufficient for 5-8 users and a local Domain controller all encrypted by the Nokia/Checkpoint firewall. Thanks Mark |

| I'm sure you're fine. We've got a site-to-site VPN with a UK subsidiary and they have 2 M/bps of Internet connectivity. When our people are there, they can plug in and log into the domain in the US although it is slightly slow. The UK operation also has 200+ employees using the same Internet line for everything else. We've also got a 3-person office in Shanghai with 256 K/bps DSL and they stay connected all day using Connectra (all with their own connection). They have all of their files and email in the US and they are very happy with the performance. Ray |

| Masshem, I agree with Ray your configuration should perform just fine. I used to have a 2MB SDSL connection at a remote office in Munich that housed 50 users. The office had local DHCP, DNS, DC, File and Print etc but also had a VPN connection to HQ in London where various resources were held. We never had any performance issues regarding bandwidth. | Thanks for the responses Ray and Joncon. The remote office is in Turkey on a 2MB SDSL connection currently configured for Internet using SecureClient which works well. I have noticed that when the VPN peer is set to the Cisco router things slow down a fair bit which worries me for applying FW policies and user traffic performance. Hopefully getting enough downtime to fully test this with the router as we don't have enough public IP's provided by Turk Telecom locally to use the IP260 as the VPN Peer. May get additional IP's before I have to return to the UK but hopefully all will work with either VPN peer set. Will keep you posted. Thanks Mark |
