Default Forcing connection reset on Edge

Hello,

I have the following problem: An Edge is establishing a VPN to our network to provide the users behind it with access to our servers. Our ISP resets the DSL-Connection after 24 hours of beeing online. This can sometimes happen during the day. Every time it happens the VPN-Connection is of course lost.

I would like to find a way to force the Edge to reset its connection during the night so I can make sure the 24 hours deadline is not reached during working hours.

Does anyone have an idea how to do this?

Thanks a lot, greetings from Germany and of course Merry Christmas ;).

The only thing I can think of is build a script to ssh into the edge box and issue a reboot command.

You might also be able to issue a DHCP renew and have the same effect.

You might be able to send an SNMP request that would do it, however I'm not particularly sure since I've never tried this.

Either the ssh script or a macro that would open a web browser every night and go to the restart option.
