I've got a couple of Edge XU's that I manage with a single R55 SmartCenter. The current v6 firmware is pretty good. You can go look at the Discussion Boards at http://www.sofaware.com and see a lot more information.

There's a few quirky things, like the management is by the Backwards Compatability module. When you update the firmware, you first have to update a set of files on the SmartCenter or you may not be able to manage them until you do. You won't make that mistake many times. :-)

There's a local medical insurance company (one of the biggies) that uses dozens and dozens of them for their remote locations.

I currently have over 200 of them in the field being managed centrally. Of course because who we are we get amazing support from Checkpoint but aside from that, these little boxes are pretty solid. We are so impressed in fact that we are soon deploying another 200+ and most likely will roll even more out nationwide. We did see some minor issues during the initial design and testing phases but as I mentioned above, CP has been extremely responsive to all out RFE's so far. I would like to see a little more support for routing protocols in the future and I am told that is being worked out now.

I recommend buying a couple and seeing is believing.

pretty good since version 6 of firmware. Versions before that had some "issues".
