Default Admin Password recovery
I know it's been done to death on SPLAT/IPSO etc, but how do you reset it on an appliance?

Reset the entire device would do it.

On UTM-1 you can reset the password the same way as on regular SecurePlatform. See for example Re: [FW-1] Secure Platform Password Recovery. You have to use an external drive connected over an USB port.
