currently I have R55 installed on windows platform, I use upgrade_export get R55 backup tgz file . When I restore it to UTM1050(R62), get such error :compress type uncompatible . Is there other way to convert it to correct compress format ? it is because version different or just compress format ?

Are you talking about using the SPLAT Restore or are you doing an upgrade_import on the SPLAT box. If doing a restore then yes it won't work and you should do an upgrade_import of the file that is generated from an upgrade_export. Restore requires a file generated by the SPLAT Backup command. Also did you use the R62 UpgradeTools or the R55 UpgradeTools to export. You should use the R62 UpgradeTools to export from the R55 and then use upgrade_import on the UTM appliance to import the Check Point configuration.

I thought restore is same as upgrade_import , so it failed . Now I have import successfully using upgrade_import tools. I use R55 self upgrade_export and R62 upgrade_import, it works . But if I want to use R62 upgrade_export, since UTM is based on linux kernel, how can I make this tool run on windows ? do I need download R62 windows version tool ?

The windows version of the utility is downloadable as part of the upgrade tools available from the Check Point website. The export/import tools support import into a diffferent OS.
