I am trying to install SPLAT 2.6 R65 on IBM x3350 server. It boots from CD and loads kernel, but after that pops up dialog with a question "What type of CDROM do you have?" I can choose: "SCSI" or "other CDROM", but it makes no difference, what i choose. It then asks driver diskette (which I don't have, besides server does not have floppy drive) and then says "Failed to mount driver diskette". I tried with both internal CD-ROM and external USB CD-ROM, no difference. Any idea how could I install the software? Or should I just go with standard Linux and then add CP R65 modules? __________________ CCNA certified

I suspect that may be a BIOS setting possibly regarding USB and CDROM. As SPLAT 2.6 is still test/development product do you actually need SPLAT 2.6 or could you use regular SPLAT until developed fully.

I thought it was officially rolled out as a production-grade version |

I tried the old SPLAT too - no difference, still displays "What type of CDROM do you have?" dialog box. Anyway this is a new server and its hardware is supported only under 2.6 I wonder if I should try the PXE option. But I read it was broken under 2.6... __________________ CCNA certified

Anyway, just for information - I gave up on SPLAT. Instead I went with standard RedHat and installed CP modules... __________________ CCNA certified

I also have this issue trying to do a network based install via PXE. My machine doesn't have a CD-rom drive. Why it's asking me this question about the CD-rom type. Last edited by george.rabidin; 2008-10-18 at 06:37.

Just curious, what size is your disk array? __________________ There's no place like 127.0.0.1
